Solar Panels

Solar energy is a fantastic form of renewable energy. Whilst you might not immediately think of the UK as having the ideal climate for using solar panels, they work even on cloudy days, providing either electricity or hot water for supplementing your hot water supply or heating your swimming pool.

Surprisingly, just under 15% of the heat in our homes comes from the suns energy, through windows and walls. This is known as "Passive Solar Energy". Utilising this natural source of energy in the design of new buildings can reduce bills and emissions significantly.

To collect the suns energy more efficiently, specially designed solar collectors or solar panels are used.

Solar panels come in two main types: Photovoltaic (PV) or Thermal Collectors. They both use energy from the sun, but it is harvested in different ways.

You can also combine solar panels with your existing gas or oil central heating systems.
